A car hit me.

That’s my car. Notice anything missing? The bumper maybe? Let me tell you a story. Just so you know exactly how bad of a day this was, I’ll start from the morning.

This was the weekend we planned to remodel our bathroom- the small one by our bedroom. Friday this adventure started. We started to paint and had everything ready for Saturday where we could install all the new pretty stuff (new lights, vanity/sink, and mirror!) I wake up Saturday with (literally) no voice. My talking was a raspy whisper. And I felt like crap. I decided to let Drew sleep in so I could get some stuff done around the house so when he got up, he could start working on the bathroom and not have to worry about anything else. This bathroom project was just a mess. The previous homeowners were lazy and did absolutely nothing right and so we had to go back and fix what they messed up. Drew got overwelmed and agitated so that started a fight with us, and I was sick, just a no good sort of day! So I left. I went out with Rachael and her mom for a lunch and just killed some time so I wasn’t in Drew’s way at the house. Drew’s mom had Landon and so I went to go pick him up…

I was driving down Old Troy Pike towards Dayton. I was turning left on Needmore. I had a green light. When I went to turn left, BAM, I got hit on my right side. My car barely swerved and I, being the awesome driver I am, corrected my car pretty quickly and was able to keep driving down the street so I could turn around. I went back to Marathon and parked and called the cops. The lady that hit me was a crazy asian and she comes and asks me for my license and insurance card- which I gave to her. But then, she wouldn’t give them back to me. I thought I was going to have curb stomp this woman to get my information back. The cops then show up and we write our statements and what not. And please remember- I have no voice. I am trying to explain what happened to the cops and I sound like an 80 year old lung cancer patient. And the louder I tried to talk, the worst it got. Really- I was just a mess. Drew came and had to pick my bumper up off the side of the road, she hit me so fast and hard that it just completely tore it off. That’s the only thing wrong with the car. And Rachael and I are fine. I was the one who got cited, for failure to yield while turning left. I did yield. This lady was just going a lot faster than I thought. I should have got a ticket for misjudgment. But, oh well.

I only have liability insurance so I will have to pay out of pocket for my car to get fixed. Luckily, I can still drive it just fine- my alignment isn’t even messed up. But it does look odd driving with no bumper. Drew said that we’re going to see how much it’ll cost- and if it’s just way too much we’re going to get me a new car. Just because my car has 145,000 miles on it, and it’s a Ford Focus. We don’t see her going much longer as it is. But if we can get it fixed for a decent price, we’ll do that and just drive her until she dies.

Well. The bathroom ended up getting done. It’s looking mighty fine. Drew did an excellent job for his first bathroom repair. We still need to do one more coat of paint- but we’ll get to it. But NOW. A pipe must have busted because water is leaking in both bathrooms. We suspect that it is the washer leaking.. so we’re going to have to basically tear down the other bathroom wall to find out what’s going on. The only bright side of that is at least that’ll give us a reason to just go ahead and do that bathroom now. When does it ever end?

On Sunday we decided to go take a walk at Carriage Hill to clear our minds of all the weekend stress. We had a nice picnic and took a (overly) long walk. Then went and got some penny candy. It was a good afternoon. I snapped a few pictures that I enjoy. Look how blue the sky is- no editing!

Let's just hope things get better around here.
